Laura Frakey, Ph.D.

Dr. Frakey is a clinical neuropsychologist who works collaboratively with Drs. Piatt and Kervick, providing neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents and adults with neurological injuries or diseases, medical conditions that affect cognition, attention-deficit disorder, learning disability, and emotional problems that can impact work or social functioning. Dr. Frakey also specializes in the neuropsychological assessment of geriatric clients with memory disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurological and medical conditions that can impact cognition in these individuals.

Dr. Frakey provides comprehensive assessments of cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning and provides detailed feedback sessions with her clients, as well as with caregivers when needed. During feedback meetings, she provides clients with information about their cognitive strengths and weaknesses, emotional issues and diagnostic impressions. For geriatric clients, Dr. Frakey also discusses issues related to capacity, safety, decision making and appropriate levels of care with clients and caregivers.

Dr. Frakey received her doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialization in neuropsychology (child and adult) from the University of Florida. She completed her neuropsychology internship training at Brown University, with specialty training in both child and adult neuropsychology. She is currently completing a research fellowship at Brown Medical School where she is investigating a new treatment for the neuro-psychiatric symptoms that accompany Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Frakey’s research is sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health.
