Laura Frakey, Ph.D.
Dr. Frakey joined CPA in 2006. She is a clinical neuropsychologist who provides neuropsychological evaluations for adults with neurological injuries or diseases, medical conditions that affect cognition, attention-deficit disorder, learning disability, and emotional problems that can impact work or social functioning. Dr. Frakey also has expertise in the neuropsychological assessment of geriatric clients with memory disorders, such as Alzheimer?s disease, and other neurological and medical conditions that can impact cognition in these individuals.
Dr. Frakey provides comprehensive assessments of cognitive, academic, and emotional functioning and provides detailed feedback sessions with her clients, as well as with caregivers when needed. During feedback meetings, she provides clients with information about their cognitive strengths and weaknesses, emotional issues and diagnostic impressions. For geriatric clients, Dr. Frakey also discusses issues related to capacity, safety, decision making and appropriate levels of care with clients and caregivers.
Dr. Frakey received her doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialization in neuropsychology (child and adult) from the University of Florida. She completed her neuropsychology internship training at Brown University, with specialty training in both child and adult neuropsychology. She also completed a two-year fellowship at the Brown University Medical School, where she investigated a new treatment for the neuro-psychiatric symptoms that accompany Alzheimer?s disease. Dr. Frakey?s research was sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health. Currently, she also is a staff neuropsychologist at McLean Hospital and she holds a faculty appointment within the Harvard University Medical School.
