Dr. Borgen is a clinical health psychologist who provides individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy services with a diverse population of clients. Her primary areas of interest include cognitive- behavioral therapy (CBT) for the treatment of various medical and stress related conditions, as well as a range of anxiety disorders. Dr. Borgen incorporates the use of relaxation training, self-hypnosis, and biofeedback into her work, all in an effort to help her clients master their well-being. Her therapeutic style is based on CBT yet she integrates other techniques to help her clients foster change and progress in their lives. Dr. Borgen uses a collaborative and active problem solving approach to help her clients achieve their therapeutic goals and move toward a healthier future. Many of her clients consider her their “lifestyle coach”.
Dr. Borgen completed her doctoral training at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. She also earned a Master of Arts degree in psychology from the Harvard Extension School. Both her doctoral dissertation and master’s theses pertained to the improvement of clinical outcomes in multidisciplinary pain management programs. Prior to joining CPA, Dr. Borgen was affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, where she served as a clinical assistant professor in both the Departments of Medicine and Psychiatry. She also had clinical privileges in the Department of Orthopedics.
