Career Counseling & Assessment Services in Boston & Newton, MA

Commonwealth Psychology Associates offers individual career services, including career and personality assessment and follow-up counseling sessions.  In the context of a structured process, our psychologists work collaboratively with clients to help them find more satisfaction in their current career or find career paths that may be more satisfying. Assessment of personality and career interests is a key feature of career counseling.  At CPA, we utilize a number of assessment tools, including many commonly used tests such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, California Psychological Inventory, Strong Interest Inventory and the Work/Life Values Checklist.  These tests provide detailed information about a client’s:

  • Personality style
  • Relationship style
  • Social functioning
  • Strengths and weaknesses
  • Interests
  • Personal values

However, while personality and career interests are essential considerations when making career choices, our psychologists also help clients evaluate their personal values, lifestyle preferences, work-life balance concerns, financial considerations and overall life goals. For a career to be satisfying and meaningful, it must match one’s values and beliefs, life circumstances and life goals.  Our psychologists will work with you to find the intersection of your strengths, interests, values and goals so that you can make more informed decisions about your career and work life.
