Dr. Peifer is a clinical psychologist who provides individual psychotherapy and couples counseling to young adults and adults. She fosters a warm, attuned, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment in which clients can work toward increasing their overall sense of well being and life satisfaction. Dr. Peifer believes that a strong therapeutic relationship can foster improved functioning and symptom reduction for clients. Dr. Peifer works collaboratively with clients to identify treatment goals and tailor treatment accordingly. Her clinical approach incorporates a range of theoretical perspectives including psychodynamic, relational-cultural, cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavioral therapies. Dr. Peifer also frequently incorporates elements of mindfulness into her work with clients. Her clinical interests include working with clients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, traumatic experiences and identity concerns including sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Dr. Peifer also has experience providing psychological testing and assessment, including using cognitive and projective instruments.
Dr. Peifer received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. She completed internship training at Faulkner Hospital’s adult inpatient unit, as well as at Rhode Island College’s Counseling Center. She completed a two year postdoctoral fellowship at the Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute, which included providing individual psychotherapy at the Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center. Dr. Peifer offers psychotherapy, counseling and psychological testing services in our Financial District - Downtown Boston office.
