Dr. Suhrhoff is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been in practice for over ten years. Dr. Suhrhoff offers insight oriented psychotherapy and consultation to individuals, couples, children and adolescents. She integrates dynamic, systemic and developmental perspectives in responding to human distress. She is interested in working with individuals with chronic or acute medical illnesses and helping them deal with the stress incumbent in managing a serious illness. Dr. Suhrhoff has expertise in treating adults, couples and children from many ethnic, racial, and class backgrounds and families of all sexual orientations.
Dr. Suhrhoff’s areas of clinical interest include the psychology of women, developmental issues in young adults, couples therapy, bereavement, parenting issues, adoption and cross-cultural issues. Her master’s degree in Learning and Behavioral Disorders informs her ability to work closely with neuropsychologists and educators to assess learning style, strengths and weaknesses of both the child and adult learner.
Dr. Suhrhoff earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Antioch University with clinical training at McLean Hospital, Boston Regional Medical Center, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Children’s Hospital, and Harvard Community Health Plan where she focused on the interface between medical concerns and psychological needs. She has continued her education through externship programs at the Psychoanalytic Institute of New England and the Psychoanalytic Couple and Family Institute of New England. Prior to becoming a psychologist, Dr. Suhrhoff worked in community mental health, education and preventative education, and she continues to offer consultative services to schools and community organizations.
