With that information, medication can be ruled in our out as the best course of treatment for each unique child and an individualized treatment plan can be determined.
A psychiatric evaluation for a child examines how psychological, biological, and social factors are presenting in behavioral and emotional concerns. A full understanding of presenting concerns and arriving at diagnostic impressions can help determine whether medication may or may not be an appropriate method of treatment. Neuropsychological evaluations can be an accurate tool for diagnosing (or ruling out) ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and learning disorders in adolescents. Teenagers who are experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and/or academic struggles may benefit from assessment and the consequent recommendations and treatment plans for better functioning at school, at home, and in social settings.
Our neuropsychological evaluations, available at our Newton-Watertown clinic, for teenagers ages 16+ address concerns related to concussions, academic struggles, attention, executive functioning, emotion regulation, social skills, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder testing and treatment planning.
Personality and psychological testing can kick-start treatment by measuring a client’s personality and emotional functioning to identify the underlying cause of difficulties. This information is used to determine a road map to overcome obstacles to positive change.
Many adults on the autism spectrum were never diagnosed as children or teens. We can screen adolescents and adults for Autism Spectrum Disorders using the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition) which evaluates relevant cognitive areas such as social interaction and language skills.
