Ashley O’Hearn, Psy.D.

Dr. O’Hearn provides individual psychotherapy to transitional youth, adults, and couples. Dr. O’Hearn utilizes a contemporary psychodynamic therapeutic orientation, and her style is relational in nature. She views a genuine relationship to be paramount in the therapeutic process and aims to facilitate a safe space for trust to develop providing the foundation for change to occur within a client. Dr. O’Hearn has specialized training in behavioral medicine and tailors a client’s treatment by incorporating a variety of therapeutic techniques such as mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). 

Dr. O’Hearn has particular interests in the areas of:

  • Performance anxiety, panic, agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive thoughts and behaviors, generalized anxiety, social anxiety

Dr. O’Hearn obtained a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from William James College in Newton, Massachusetts. She completed her APA-accredited internship training at University of Kansas Counseling and Psychological Services. Dr. O’Hearn has clinical experience in a number of outpatient settings, such as having worked in community mental health and substance abuse clinics, group private practice, and college counseling centers. Prior to receiving her doctorate, she received a master’s in experimental psychology and worked in research laboratories studying social and developmental psychology. Dr. O’Hearn offers psychotherapy, counseling, and couples therapy services in our Back Bay office.
