Dr. Johnson is a clinical psychologist with a specialization in health psychology and behavioral medicine.
She assists clients in managing the emotional impact of chronic health issues and making positive behavior changes to improve health and overall quality of life. Dr. Johnson fosters a warm and empathic therapeutic environment and uses a collaborative, client-centered approach to treatment, informed by empirical support.
Dr. Johnson supports the development of coping skills and behavioral strategies to improve health and overall well-being. She has applied her training to work with clients with a range of health-related issues including chronic pain, weight management, diabetes, sleep issues, gastrointestinal issues, infectious diseases, cancer, degenerative conditions, sexual health issues and smoking cessation.
Dr. Johnson also works with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, major life stressors and transitions. Her approach to treatment with clients includes features of cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal and mindfulness-based perspectives, tailoring treatment to the individual.
Dr. Johnson received her doctoral degree from Virginia Tech. She completed her internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the VA Boston Healthcare System, with affiliations at the Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Johnson provides psychotherapy and behavioral medicine services in our Financial District office.
