Dr. Poirier is a licensed psychologist offering individual psychotherapy for adults and young adults. She utilizes an integrative approach to therapy that draws from relational, humanistic, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness-based perspectives.
Dr. Poirier believes that the therapeutic process can encourage self-exploration, generate meaningful change, and promote overall well-being. She values the use of warmth, authenticity, and humor as a way to build trust and foster personal growth. Dr. Poirier aims to establish a non-judgmental space where barriers to change can be explored. The goals of treatment are created collaboratively and with a consideration of the client’s individual values and needs. Her practice incorporates skill building and relaxation techniques as well as increasing awareness of relational patterns, emotional experiences, and the function of one’s behaviors.

Dr. Poirier received a bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College and a masters and doctoral degree from William James College. She completed internships at Boston Behavioral Medicine and at the Mental Health Clinic within the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Cambridge Eating Disorder Center, where her training focused on the treatment of eating disorders within all levels of care.
