Dr. Katia Roth is a licensed psychologist who provides individual, family, and group therapy for adults and young adults. Dr. Roth believes that therapy can promote greater emotional flexibility, confidence in decision-making, and enables individuals to become more fully engaged in their lives. She utilizes a collaborative approach to develop a trusting and strong therapeutic relationship. Dr. Roth provides a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to engage in self-exploration and to develop a broader understanding of their thinking patterns, relationship choices, and life goals.
Dr. Roth’s background includes training and experience with adults, as well as children/adolescents and families. Dr. Roth relies on an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal therapy, acceptance and mindfulness-based interventions, and family systems work to effectively treat a variety of presenting issues. Dr. Roth’s clinical interests include depression and anxiety, relationship/family challenges and conflict, anger-related problems, and identity development.
Dr. Roth also has experience providing parenting training and assistance to individuals with children ages 12 and under. She believes that positive interactions between parents and children early in life can promote increased relationship security, improved interpersonal functioning, and effective social skills throughout the lifespan.
Dr. Roth received her bachelor’s degree from The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology, training at Boston Medical Center’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the VA Boston Healthcare System’s General Mental Health Clinic. She went on to complete a postdoctoral clinical fellowship in the VA Boston Healthcare System’s General Mental Health Clinic, with affiliations at the Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School.
