New Videos Use Humor to Promote Psychotherapy for Depression Treatment

October 17, 2012|Counseling & Psychotherapy

The American Psychological Association (APA) has released new videos that rely on humor and parody to convey a very important message: psychotherapy for depression, anxiety and other issues often is a better treatment option than medications.

The videos highlight not only the effectiveness of psychotherapy but also how much money the pharmaceutical industry spends promoting their medications. This is the APA’s effort to help get the word out about the significant value of psychotherapy.

We know that medications are often very helpful and that for many people the combination of medication and psychotherapy is most effective. But, for some, psychotherapy alone often will be sufficient.
